Stanbic Bank Champions Agricultural Mechanization at 41st National Farmers’ Day in Ho

Stanbic Bank Ghana has once again reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the country’s agriculture sector during the 41st National Farmers’ Day celebrations held in Ho, highlighting its role as a catalyst for economic growth, food security, and job creation.

Speaking at the ceremony, Samuel Okang-Boye, Head of Agribusiness at Stanbic Bank, emphasized the bank’s dedication to supporting agriculture as a key driver of national development. “At Stanbic Bank, Ghana is our home, and it is our responsibility to drive her growth. Our support for agriculture is rooted in its vast potential to improve food security, create jobs, alleviate poverty, and sustain economic growth.”

Mr. Okang-Boye underscored the bank’s continued efforts to empower agribusiness clients across the entire agriculture value chain, including small-scale farmers, through its expertise and smart digital solutions. As part of its longstanding tradition since 2008, Stanbic Bank presented brand-new Massey Ferguson 385 tractors to the first and second runners-up of the National Farmers’ Day competition, recognizing their dedication and hard work.

Charles Gyato, the second runner-up who received a Massey Ferguson 385 tractor, expressed his appreciation, saying, “This is the kind of support we need as farmers to increase efficiency in our production. If every large-scale farmer in Ghana receives this level of support, there will be food security and sustainable jobs for our young people.”

The event also marked a significant push towards mechanization in Ghanaian agriculture. Stanbic Bank awarded top-of-the-line Massive Fagasy tractors, including the 850 and 385 series, to exemplary farmers, reinforcing the importance of modernizing agricultural practices. “We can’t do agriculture the same old way, the same old traditional systems. We are pivoting into highly mechanized systems that would allow commercialization of the sector to scale up.

The 41st National Farmers’ Day, held under the theme “Eat Ghana, Grow Ghana, Secure the Future,” celebrates the tireless efforts of Ghana’s agricultural workforce in driving national development, ensuring food security, and stabilizing the economy. Over the past 17 years, Stanbic Bank has actively strengthened the sector through agribusiness initiatives, combining knowledge-based support with innovative digital solutions to help farmers thrive.

With 26 years of presence in Ghana, Stanbic Bank continues to play a pivotal role not only as a financial institution but also as a champion for innovation, sustainable development, and economic empowerment. A member of the Standard Bank Group, the bank remains committed to fostering partnerships that empower citizens, strengthen institutions, and transform the agricultural sector into a commercially viable, modern industry.

Through its tractor awards and broader agribusiness support, Stanbic Bank aims to inspire other stakeholders to adopt innovative solutions that increase productivity, enhance livelihoods, and ensure sustainable growth for Ghana’s agriculture.
